About this episode
Professor Shafi Ahmed is a UK colorectal surgeon and one of the top global influencers in digital health and innovation. He has advised the UK government on its long-term healthcare plan, helped design surgical education programmes in over 20 countries including conflict zones, and was commissioned by Abu Dhabi to help digitalise its healthcare system.
Known as the world's most watched surgeon, he has live-streamed operations using Google Glass, Snapchat Spectacles and national television, and was the first surgeon to operate using Microsoft HoloLens with colleagues' avatars joining from other continents. He also co-founded Medical Realities, a virtual reality medical education company pioneering the use of haptic feedback gloves.
