About this episode
Dr Leonie Schelke was one of the earliest pioneers of ultrasound in facial aesthetics. She co-founded the globally renowned complications centre at Erasmus University in Rotterdam and, in 2019, the Cutaneous Facial Ultrasound course, which teaches injectors to use and interpret facial ultrasound.
Dr Stella Desyatnikova is a leading facial plastic surgeon in Seattle who taught herself facial ultrasound and has fully incorporated it into her consultations. Stuart Turner's physiotherapy background gave him the foundations of musculoskeletal ultrasound long before it reached aesthetics. He is Managing Director of Real Time Ultrasound Machines, which distributes Vinno devices across Australia.
We discuss filler complications, how ultrasound entered aesthetics, what it shows, learning to read images, why it improves safety, vascular mapping, complication management, diagnosing lumps and filler placement, targeted hyaluronidase at lower doses, and whether ultrasound will become standard practice.
