About this episode
Dr Patrick Treacy is a cosmetic physician in Dublin. After a potentially life-ending needlestick injury early in his hospital career, he travelled the world and worked in several remote locations before returning to Ireland, where the facial aesthetics industry had not yet begun.
Patrick pioneered some of the very first injectable treatments there, including biostimulator and polyacrylamide fillers for facial lipodystrophy in HIV patients, and was the first doctor known to use hyaluronidase to dissolve HA fillers, something injectors now take for granted.
We get a fascinating perspective on how facial aesthetics has changed over 30 years, from permanent filler lessons and vascular occlusion management to building international clinics, regulation in the UK and Ireland and training standards, before discussing his most famous patient, Michael Jackson.
