About this episode
Cameron Glover is CEO of Interplast Australia, a charity providing life-saving and life-changing surgery across 17 countries in the Asia Pacific. Its volunteer plastic surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and allied health professionals also train local medical teams to improve long-term care.
Working with local hospitals, universities and NGOs, Interplast's mission is to repair bodies and rebuild lives. Cameron shares the surgeries on offer, including cleft, burns and trauma, the challenges of working in low-resource hospitals, training local surgeons, logistics and funding, community programmes such as burns prevention, and how COVID-19 and telehealth have changed the way the team operates and trains.
