About this episode
Deborah Farnworth-Ward is the founder of the Australian Skin Clinics (ASC) franchise, which grew from one to 60 locations in just five years. She is an MBA graduate, a Certified Franchise Executive and a serial entrepreneur who has worked in aesthetics for 15 years.
Before aesthetics she managed large multidisciplinary healthcare organisations, including pharmacies, GP services, surgical facilities, dietetics and counselling services, and we learn how that background shaped her vision.
We cover buying her first clinic, the state of the industry in 2007, surviving the GFC, simplifying the business model, choosing franchisees, building clinics in shopping centres, recruiting and training injectors, salary versus commission, competition and saturation, why many solo clinics struggle, staff leaving with databases, and the future of chain clinics.
